Whether a man will succeed in life or not will be determined by how he treats opportunities that comes his way.

But, to take advantage of an opportunity, one must be able to identify the opportunity first.

Hagar thirsted, not because of lack of water but because she could not identify the well nearby (Genesis 21:15-17).

The widow struggled to pay her debts, not because God was against her but because she could not see the potential in her oil (2 Kings 4:1-7).

There are a lot struggling today, simply because they cannot identify the opportunities around them.

Any time God wants to give a man breakthrough – financially, materially, spiritually, etc, He will start by throwing an opportunity to give at him.

Take for instance Solomon, before he was born, God already purposed it in His mind to bless him.

No wonder when he was born, God gave him the name , Jedidah , which means beloved of the Most High ( 2 Samuel 12:25).

When his season of breakthrough came, God threw an opportunity to give a thousand burnt offerings at him.

1 Kings 3:4-5 says and the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. From the day, Solomon gave that thousand burnt offerings, his life never remained the same.

Anytime God wants to give a man breakthrough, He will start by giving the fellow an opportunity to sow a powerful seed.

Has God laid it on your mind to give something special to Him? Do not hesitate; you could be missing the opportunity of a lifetime.

Elisha seed, sacrifice activated Double portion of power of Elijah

Power - 2kings 2:9-16

Elisha asked for double portion of power of Elijah. The Midrash says Elijah did eight miracles and Elisha sixteen

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. 2 Kings 2:9

And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. 2 Kings 2:10

And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. 2 Kings 2:12

He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; 2 Kings 2:13

These are other 5 people that offered acceptable sacrifices to God.

The sacrifices of Abraham, Moses, Ruth, and Mary are all reflections of a greater sacrifice that would be made. Jesus offers us the greatest sacrifice of all. Not only did He sacrifice His life on the cross, but He also made many sacrifices during His life.

Jesus Sacrifice is life

Philippians 2:6-8 tells us: “Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:6-8 ESV)

Jesus sacrificed His divine privileged to walk this earth as a fragile human like us, to live a perfect life that He would then sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins and the redemption of our souls. His sacrifice shows He truly offers the greatest love of all.

He sacrifice to be a peacemaker between Man and God and he is glorified till today.

Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:13-14

No wonder his name becomes access to receive anything we ask from God.

Required attitude to Ask what you want

Give Glory To God:  Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come. Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9-10

Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

Seek God’s Will - Matthew 26:29

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

1 John 5:14-15

Believe In God:

Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. Mark 11:24

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. James 1:17

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:6-8

Ask In Humility:

Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:13-14

You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4:3
